Make a Difference as a Volunteer!

We would love to have you get involved with Arts Advocates as a volunteer.

There are opportunities to join a committee, team up with fellow members to plan an event, help administer our highly-regarded scholarship program, or serve as a docent or host in our Gallery. Whatever your schedule or skills, there is a place for you.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to deepen your connection with Arts Advocates and meet other arts enthusiasts like yourself. Join a committee to fulfill our vision of supporting all the arts.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Scholarship Committee:

Awarding scholarships to deserving students studying for careers in the arts is one of our signature programs. You’ll be part of a team setting criteria for the selection of students and reviewing their applications to choose the recipients.

Membership:

You remember when you first joined that you were perhaps shy about getting involved. Help mentor a new member. Introduce them to other members. Tell them about events and how they can become involved. Invite your fellow arts lovers to join Arts Advocates.

Art Docent:

Are you passionate about art and eager to share your enthusiasm with others? We have opportunities at our gallery and at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall for you. Training provided.

Art Talk Interviewer:

This is a unique opportunity to engage in thoughtful, insightful conversations with visual and performing artists. This role requires an understanding of the arts and strong interpersonal skills. Interviewers create an open and inviting atmosphere during talks.

Gallery Host:

Welcome visitors during Saturday hours (2-4 pm), art talks, member exhibit openings (first Saturday of each month), and other Arts Advocates programs.

Luncheons:

Identify potential speakers from our local arts community. Greet monthly luncheon attendees (October-May) and help new members to meet other members and guests.

Fundraising:

It takes money to undertake our many programs that promote the arts in our community. Do you know people or companies that would be willing to help?

Where Are They Now? Researcher/Writer:

If your skills are research and interviewing, consider helping us locate our former scholarship winners and write articles about what they are doing now.

Educational Tours/Workshops:

Help to arrange visits to local arts organizations or programs for members to learn a new arts-related skill.

Hospitality Committee:

You will serve as the liaison with the luncheon committee, help select menus, arrange seating and A/V equipment as needed.
